TO:  NAWIC – Great Tidewater Chapter # 137

RE:  Spring Forum 2014 - Durham, North Carolina

I wanted to take the time to let you know that I really enjoyed myself at the Spring Forum.  The hotel was great, company was great and the entire event as a whole was very fun.

Watching the ladies being acknowledged for all their years of participation with NAWIC is quite inspiring. It was so nice to witness all of their hard work and commitment being honored with all of us. Lois, was a riot when she accepted her pin.  As funny as her words, they also struck a chord with me.  I am “newly” inspired to be the best that I can be for this organization.

Hanging out with all the young girls was a blast as well, listening to them and hearing all the hope and excitement that is filled inside them for the future.  They will all be fantastic leaders one day, this I am sure of.

I am always inspired by women who raise families, have tough careers and yet; still find time to be part of this great organization.  These women are the true meaning of commitment, endurance and strength.  I fall in the middle of all of these women, I only hope that I can live up to the expectations that our charter members have set up for us and at the same time set examples and inspire the youth of this organization.

I see monthly the passion that you and several other women in our group display and that was already awe-inspiring to me, now to see the rest of Region 11 being represented by such strong women, truly made me feel very empowered.

Along the journey of this weekend, I met some really nice people, heard from a fabulous speaker, met our board, had good food and spirits and was overall very pleased.

Looking forward to the next one!

Ref: Spring Forum Dear NAWIC:

I had the pleasure of attending the 47'h Annual Spring Forum for Region 11in Raleigh, NC this past weekend.

It was my first time attending and I really didn't know what to expect. After seeing the agenda for the classes, I was a little skeptical about what I would actually get out of the experience.  I knew we were hosting the  event next year, so I felt that my attendance was personally important so I would know what the chairman of the event would expect of myself and my fellow NAWIC sisters when we were putting the whole thing together next year.

The classes were nothing that really peaked my interest and/or a topic that had no bearing in my personal or professional life. What I did get out of my experience was the amazing women that I met and the wonderful speakers that stood before us. It's quite inspiring when you listen to the older generation and what dedication they have had to the industry, to the advancement of women in the field and their dedication to NAWIC. It made you second guess yourself about are you doing enough. Am I doing enough for my family, enough for my employer, enough for my community and even enough for NAWIC. You can always tell the passion someone has deep down that are the doers in this world and not the ones that make excuses for why they have no time or interest to get more involved.

Then you have the "younger" ladies.  There was such a diversity from every region, upbringing and lifestyle that all come together for a main purpose.  It was a total inspiration, being a woman in this industry, to hear our fellow NAWIC sisters get up there and speak with such passion about other's accomplishments and the goals for the future.  TJ Baggett was one that stood out among them all.  To me, she represents confidence, knowledge, power and heart to Inspire us all to keep fighting and moving forward and to continue the education for we all know that knowledge is power.

Thank you,
