The Dangers of being a NAWIC Volunteer:
"This is the ball I hit on the par 3, closest to the pin, and it landed in this girl’s lap". --Barb Nelson, Titan America
Thankfully she didn't play it where it landed and I'm even more thankful for the trees on the course.
Please feel free to share event pictures with us. Send them to Webmaster.
We visited the "New World of Wonder" located at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. The site visit was a great pleasure and many of us our awaiting its anticipated completion date of September 2006.
The Norfolk Botanical Gardens is trying to encourage younger visitors to enjoy the gorgeous plant species. Having many beautiful things around the youngsters and being told not to touch or pick will all change with the Children's Garden. The Botanical Gardens hopes this new addition will replace the last favorite spot amongst children: the berm seperating the gardens from the airport.

SEPTEMBER 2006 - Nationals
Hello All NAWIC Sisters
NAWIC's 51st National Convention has come and gone and it was a wonderful time in Kansas City, Mo. There were 538 persons in attendance and a very enthusiastic group at that. We had six (6) people from our Chapter attend and 57 people from Region 11. We had the standard business meetings with renowned speaker Graham Stedman who spoke on "You Can Make it Happen: Nine Steps to Success" followed by a book signing. One of our Chapter Members bought the book and had a photo opportunity and Mr. Stedman autographed her book. Bobby Staten, spoke at our Crystal Vision Awards Gala, she spoke on "Humor from the Heart" we have never laughed so hard and learned so much at one time. We had many other opportunities to expand our knowledge through many Professional and Association Workshops that were offered through-out the week. The retirement and installation of officers is also held at the National Convention, this was a touching ceremony. We took part in the Hard Hat Café, this is where the Tradeswomen have to opportunity to demonstrate what they do in the field and allow others to gain a better understanding for the need to support the women in the field also. It was a week of excitement, learning and networking opportunities that will always be remembered. Mark you calendars now for the next years National Convention to be held September 5, 2007 thru September 8, 2007 in Orlando Florida.
